Responsibilities:
  • Job Summary:
  • Reporting to the Director Medical Services, the role holder is responsible for providing expert
  • medical care to infants, children, and adolescents, diagnosing and treating a wide range of
  • pediatric conditions, and supporting preventive healthcare initiatives. The role involves managing
  • complex cases, collaborating with other specialists, and mentoring junior medical staff and
  • contributing to research and education in the field of Pediatrics.
  • Patient Care:
  • Conduct consultations, evaluations, and thorough assessments of pediatric patients
  • Diagnose and treat acute, chronic, and complex medical conditions in children
  • Prescribe and manage medications, therapies, and interventions tailored to each child’s needs
  • Perform and supervise procedures specific to pediatric care.
  • Monitor patients’ progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Preventive Care:
  • Provide guidance on childhood vaccinations, nutrition, growth, and development milestones.
  • Educate families on preventive care, early warning signs, and management of common pediatric illnes
  • Collaboration and Multidisciplinary Care:
  • Work closely with other specialists, such as surgeons, endocrinologists, and neonatologists, for
  • integrated care.
  • Refer patients to other medical professionals or specialists when required
  • Emergency Care:
  • Respond to pediatric emergencies, stabilize patients, and manage critical care cases.

  • Ability to make informed and timely decisions regarding treatment plans, considering individual
  • patient needs and complexities.

Requirements:
  • Master of Medicine in General Surgery or its equivalent, with sub-specialty training in Pediatrics recognized by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council.
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree from an institution recognized by Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
  • Served for a minimum period of five (5) years relevant work, three (3) of which should have been in administrative position
  • Valid Practice License from the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Council
